ARCA champ Sheldon Creed goes full-time Truck racing in 2019

Newly-crowned ARCA champion Sheldon Creed will join GMS Racing for a full-time ride in the Camping World Truck Series championship.

Creed has already made two Truck series starts for GMS Racing, making his series debut at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and last week at Texas Motor Speedway.

The native of El Cajon, Calif., native was scheduled for two more events this season, including Friday night’s race at ISM Raceway, and next weekend’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“I am extremely pumped about the opportunity to continue my asphalt career and transition into being full-time in the Truck Series,” said Creed. “My goal in whatever I race is to be able to go out and compete for wins every week, and hopefully be in a position to contend for a championship at the end.

“I really think I have that opportunity with GMS Racing. We were able to get a jump start on next season by running these final four races this year, and I think that will really be to my benefit when we kick off the 2019 season.”

GMS Racing already has Johnny Sauter and Justin Haley already locked in the Championship 4 for next weekend’s Truck series season finale.

“We are really excited to add Creed full-time to our 2019 Truck Series lineup,” said Mike Beam, President of GMS Racing. “He is a talented driver that has the potential to have an impressive career in NASCAR.”

In addition to his three previous Truck series starts, Creed has also made two Xfinity Series starts and seven NASCAR K&N Pro Series starts in his career. He picked up four wins and 18 top-10 finishes in 20 ARCA races this season en route to winning the championship.
