NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., February 19, 2020
NEW SMYRNA, FL – Toyota Racing Development driver Jesse Love, 15, made his first ever trip to Florida to take part in the nine day short-track racing festival known as “Speedweeks”, competing in the super late model division for Wimmer Racing in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway. The rising young racer wasted no time showing he belonged, getting his first ever win in the division, racking up six top five finishes, two poles and finishing third in series points against some of the top late model racers in the nation.
He also competed in his first ever ARCA Menard Series East race for Bill McAnally Racing, the Skip’s Western Outfitters 175 (also held at New Smyrna) and finished twelfth.
Love, who is expected to compete in the entire ARCA Menards Series West schedule this season for BMR along with a robust number of dirt midget races in the USAC and POWRi Series for Keith Kunz Motorsports (his second year with KKM) and some sprint car races as well, was extremely happy with his first ever experience at Speedweeks.
“Speedweeks was absolutely amazing,” he said. “I learned so much throughout the week and being able to win made it even better. I can’t thank the whole Wimmer Racing team enough for giving me an amazing car every night, it was truly special to drive for them. Racing against guys like Bubba Pollard, Steven Nasse, and Ty Majeski was a learning curve but thanks to the people around me I was able to adjust quickly. During the week I got a lot more comfortable in Stock Car racing and I feel a lot more confident because of it. I couldn’t have done it alone. The Wimmer team was flawless the whole week, and I can’t wait to come back!”
The next race event for Love will be his first ever ARCA Menards Series West start at “The Bullring” at Las Vegas International Speedway on Thursday, February 20th. More information about the race can be found at www.arcaracing.com.
